skydive chicago Scout The Fennec Fox is no Longer With Us 😢

Thank you guys for everything you have done to help Scout have the best life he could possibly have with me. From all the silly comments down to every last donation from you guys. From toys and food to everything in between. He means the world to me and has helped me overcome many of my personal issues in the past since I've had to put my own BS aside to make sure he has a happy and comfortable life. Because of this, I will never forget Scout and I know you guys wont either. Let's make Scout the Messiah for all pet foxes out there and if you come across anyone who is not taking care of their foxes properly, please make sure to be very vocal about it and peacefully help the person understand why what they're doing is wrong. Scout has helped so many other people take the time to actually research more on pet fox ownership and it has given so many pet foxes a better life filled with more freedom, enrichment, and love.

I don't suggest anyone own a pet fox, but if you think you have what it takes to give them the best life possible in captivity I beg that you take the time to actually work with some first before bringing one into your home. These ten years have been a HUGE commitment to Scout and no matter what has happened in my life I made sure I did what I had to do in order to give him (and the rest) the best life possible while in my care. He did not choose to be born into captivity but I have done everything in my power to keep him happy and help other foxes live the best life possible.

Thank you guys again for always being there for us, and I hope your heart can heal along with mine once he is no longer with us.
I'm so happy we were able to build this community. For such a little guy, he has changed a big part of the pet community and so many other lives for the better. We love you guys.

At this time I am looking into my options with him and I will keep you guys posted on what's going on as soon as I know more. Whitney is getting back to me soon with more information on who may be available to see Scout today or tomorrow. We will more than likely have to travel out of town with him to see the proper person so she's looking into that for me right now.

I've thought about how this situation would go down for a year now that his health has been declining due to age but nothing can prepare you enough when the time comes to make the most difficult of decisions. Making sure he's not suffering is my only priority at this time. I already know that keeping him alive is possibly just going to keep him suffering longer. I've lost a lot of things I love in the past year, but this is definitely the toughest on my emotions... This really sucks... A lot.

Update 03.21.2018 1:00AM - Unfortunately I had to make the decision tonight to put him down. Thank you guys for always being there for us and I'm so sorry I couldn't do more to save him. I wish all the time that I had the ability to stop his aging and to slow down time. Let this be a huge reality for those of you guys with pets. Love them every single day and make sure you're always treating them the best you can. They wont be around forever. I will talk to you guys soon and let you know what I plan on doing with his burial. I opted to take him home with me to make sure he's close to home. I love you guys.
